Your robotaxi is watching — and it will call the cops

If you plan on breaking the law in a robotaxi, remember: the car is watching.

Two juveniles were arrested in San Francisco after their Waymo robotaxi pulled over and called the police on them, reports The Verge. The riders were in possession of a loaded AR-style ghost gun. A Waymo spokesperson confirmed to the Los Angeles Times that the vehicle automatically pulled over and alerted authorities after detecting a "violation of our terms of service involving a firearm."

Why it matters: Driverless cabs aren't private sanctuaries — they are rolling sensor suites with strict safety rules. This is the second time this year a Waymo vehicle has snitched on its riders. Earlier, a car faked mechanical troubles to pull over after two teens drank alcohol and shot a toy gun out the window.

Know this: Autonomous vehicles rely on remote monitoring and internal sensors to enforce company policy. If those systems flag illegal or dangerous behavior inside the cabin, the car will end your trip and alert law enforcement.

The bottom line: if you're going to do something dumb, don't do it in the back of a robotaxi.
