Ukrainian Drones Knock Out Yandex AI Data Center

Physical infrastructure for AI is officially on the front lines.
A targeted Ukrainian drone strike knocked out a primary AI data center belonging to Yandex, often called "Russia’s Google." The strike disrupted Russian compute capacity and briefly knocked out a dating app, a real estate site, a publishing platform, and a top soccer team's website, according to Reuters.
Why it matters: Server facilities are increasingly becoming military targets. Iranian drones knocked out Amazon data centers in Bahrain and the UAE earlier this year, and Ukraine is now squeezing Russia's domestic tech infrastructure alongside its oil refineries and military supply lines.
Know this: Ukraine still faces shortages of defensive interceptor weapons to protect its own power grid and cities from Russian attacks. In response, its military has steadily built up a long-range drone campaign to hit high-value logistics and tech assets inside Russia.
Redundancy plans rarely account for long-range air strikes.
