An entire WebGPU fishing game, built with Claude Opus 5.5

A fully interactive 3D fishing game built with Claude Opus 5.5 is running natively in the browser.

Developer dgreenheck released Tidewater, a browser game set on a tropical island. Built without external game frameworks, it relies entirely on custom WebGPU—a web standard for high-performance graphics—and WGSL shaders. The game features realistic ocean physics, 18 fish species, dynamic weather, and upgradeable gear. It picked up 917 GitHub stars in its first week.

Why it matters: It shows how fast browser-based AI code generation is evolving. Building custom rendering engines with ocean waves and volumetric clouds used to require a specialized team or a heavy third-party engine. Tidewater runs its custom graphics pipeline natively at 60 fps on an M5 Pro GPU.

Try it: You can play it right now in Chrome, Edge, or Safari. The first visit takes about a minute to compile several hundred shaders, but your browser caches them for fast loads later.

Not bad for a prompt and a browser window.
