Someone just launched a new site called Twitter after X abandoned the trademark

Someone just launched a brand-new social network called Twitter, claiming Elon Musk’s X Corp. legally threw away the name.
A company called Operation Bluebird, Inc. launched twitter.now, a browser-based platform designed to look and feel like classic Twitter with replies and retweets. According to Ars Technica, the nascent site currently has a few hundred users. Its main new feature is an automated AI fact-checker called "Vera" (powered by Gemini) that analyzes every post in real time. The creators say their goal is a safer platform built on "freedom of speech and not freedom of reach."
Why it matters: If the startup's claim holds up, one of the most famous brand names in tech history was left lying on the sidewalk for anyone to grab. But trademark attorney Josh Gerben told Ars Technica that while the company has a "workable legal theory," X Corp. will almost certainly fight back hard in court.
Neither X Corp., Elon Musk, nor X's attorneys immediately responded to requests for comment.
Get the popcorn ready—the legal battle for the Twitter name is just getting started.
