Developer Sara Gordić released Window Sweaters, a macOS menu-bar app that wraps your open windows in animated, knitted borders. The project hit 538 stars on GitHub this week. It includes hand-picked sweater designs for 37 apps—like Safari, Claude, Slack, and Figma—and auto-generates matching yarn colors for any app without one.

Why it matters: Most desktop utilities focus on hyper-efficiency. This one exists purely for charm, proving there is still room for playful software on modern operating systems.

Know this: It runs on macOS 13 or later. Since it relies on private macOS window APIs and isn't notarized by Apple yet, you'll need to bypass a security prompt and enable Accessibility access.
