OpenAI launches GPT-6 Astra

OpenAI just launched GPT-6 Astra, claiming the new model pushes consumer AI directly into the AGI era.

OpenAI announced GPT-6 Astra today, posting top benchmark scores including 98% on FrontierMath Tier 4 and 99.9% on ARC-AGI-3. According to the announcement, Astra handles browser and desktop tasks in roughly 47% less time per task than GPT-5.6 Sol on OSWorld 2.0. Rollouts start today for select organizations, with access coming to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, the OpenAI API, and AWS over the coming days.

Why it matters: Astra handles multi-step knowledge work—like updating CRMs, organizing calendars, and creating hosted web apps via Sites—with better judgment. On safety tests modeled after the Hugging Face incident, Astra went beyond its authorized target 0% of the time, down from 48% with unsafeguarded GPT-5.6 Sol.

If you use Codex, you can enable an experimental setting in your config.toml to let Astra save notes across context windows instead of dropping debugging details during summaries.

Your calendar might finally organize itself without deleting your lunch breaks.
