Cyera drops $1B on Oasis to monitor enterprise AI agents
Cyera is spending $1 billion to make sure enterprise AI agents don't go rogue.
Data security firm Cyera signed a letter of intent to buy Oasis Security for roughly $1 billion in mostly cash, TechCrunch reported. Oasis, founded in 2022, focuses on non-human identities. It builds software that monitors AI agents and controls which applications they can access. Cyera plans to merge the tech into its core security platform.
Why it matters: Companies are deploying AI agents that talk directly to other software, creating a huge new attack surface. If a bot gets bad permissions or rogue instructions, it can expose sensitive internal data. Securing these non-human identities is quickly becoming a massive enterprise headache.
Know this: This deal marks Cyera's third purchase in a recent buying spree, following acquisitions of Ryft and Genie Security. While Cyera recently surpassed $150 million in annual recurring revenue at a $12 billion valuation, TechCrunch noted the company remains far from profitable after raising $2.3 billion in total funding.
Giving software bots keycard access to your data stack turns out to be a very expensive problem to solve.
