StreetComplete is coming to iOS with a cross-platform beta

The favorite Android app for mapping the world like a video game is finally coming to iPhones.

StreetComplete, the popular app that crowdsources OpenStreetMap edits through simple quests, is making its way to iOS via a new public beta. According to project updates on GitHub, the port relies on Kotlin Multiplatform and Compose Multiplatform — tech that translates Kotlin code into native iOS binaries. This approach lets the team share logic across both platforms instead of rewriting the entire app in Swift or Dart.

Why it matters: iPhone users can finally help improve open map data on their daily walks. Because the maintainers share UI code across platforms, supporting iOS won't double their workload over time.

Know this: Building the port was originally estimated at one person-year of work. Community pull requests and dedicated development pushed the project past the 50% mark, and the maintainers are still looking for contributors to tackle open tasks on their project board.

Your neighborhood walk is about to become a lot more productive.
