You can now play Skyrim with Minecraft's physics and blocks

A new mod lets you dig up Skyrim's roads, drop lava on guards, and fight dragons with a Minecraft diamond sword.
Developer chasmlol released SkyCraft, an open-source project that links Skyrim Special Edition and Minecraft Java Edition in real time. It pairs a Skyrim SKSE C++ plugin with a Minecraft Fabric mod using shared memory. Minecraft runs hidden in the background handling physics, inventory, block placement, and combat logic, while Skyrim draws the entire frame—complete with its sun, shadows, and weather.
Why it matters: Instead of just porting 3D assets, SkyCraft hooks two separate game engines together on the fly without rewriting either codebase. Minecraft TNT blows actual craters into Skyrim's terrain, and hitting Skyrim NPCs with Minecraft weapons levels up your Skyrim One-Handed and Archery skills.
Know this: It's early and experimental, so back up your saves. You need Skyrim Anniversary Edition, SKSE64, and a Microsoft account that owns Minecraft: Java Edition. SkyCraft comes with a portable Prism Launcher that downloads the required Minecraft 26.3 files automatically. Budget about 3 GB of extra RAM, and grab the Alternate Start mod so Skyrim's scripted intro ride doesn't break.
Modding has officially entered its "why not both?" phase.
